Description
The U.S. Army TACOM- Picatinny Arsenal, NJ has a requirement for sixteen (16) Enhanced Cover Assemblies. This firm fixed price purchase order is for the development of an enhanced cover for the current square rim ammunition container to redesign for weight savings as well as improve Insensitive Munitions (IM) performance. The Army is looking to decrease/lighten the amount of packaging material used for ammunition. When ammunition is packed for transport, usually you will max out in weight before cubing out, fill up useable volume. To increase the amount of ammunition transported the weight from either the ammo or packaging must be reduced. Since design changes in ammunition is more complex than packaging, it is logical to try and reduce as much weight as possible from the packaging while keeping its functionality and still protect the item/s inside. The enhanced cover will reduce the weight as well as allow room to incorporate Insensitive Munitions (IM) feature. The competitive Request for Quote (RFQ) will be available electronically at the following Internet address: http://procnet.pica.army.mil on or about fifteen (15) days from date of this announcement. The point of contact for this requirement is Mr. Thomas Howes, Contract Specialist, AMSTA-AQ-APJ, Bldg. 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000; email: thomas.howes1@pica.army.mil , telephone number: 973-724-2962. SEE NUMBER NOTE 22. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days (thirty days if award is issued under an existing basic ordering agreement) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement
