- CDC, NIOSH, National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory has a requirement for a scanning mobility particle sizer for the nanoparticle program in the Technology Research Branch/NPPTL for aerosol generation and measurement. We require a broad measurement for our new project to develop innovative methodologies for evaluating particle penetration through protective clothing and ensembles. The broader measurement capability will also be useful for other projects such as the study to investigate filtration efficiency of respiratory filters against very small nanoparticles. An instrument is required to measure particle concentrations up to 106 particles/cm3 and measure aerosol particles less than 1.0 um, i.e., nano- and submicron particles generated in an aerosol chamber. The TSI model 3936-NL75 measures aerosol particles up to 1.0 um. Responsible sources that believe they can provide the required instrument are encouraged to submit to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date of this notice their written specifications and supporting information in the format they choose, not to exceed 10 pages. The Government will review any/all information submitted and determine if other qualified sources (technically compliant with the stated specification) do exist. Information received in response to this notice will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If not affirmative responses are received within 15 days, negotiations will be conducted with TSI, Inc, Shoreview, MN, as the only source for a scanning mobility particle sizer (Model 3936-NL75 ) meeting our needs and a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted.
