Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for C Image Generator systems for NASA Ames' Tower Simulator, FutureFlight Central (FCC). This procurement is for the delivery, integration and installation of image generation (IG) systems for FFC. The IG solution is based on Future Flight?s existing software, MaxSim by Adacel, Inc. and the Adacel IG visual standard. This standard makes use of commercial off the shelf computers, graphics cards, visual run-time software applications, and Adacel?s interface software, VMAX. The requirements and deliverables for the Future Flight Central Image Generation System are as follows: Requirements: A. Provide a 12 channel IG system replacement for FutureFlight Central?s existing SGI system for the Tower plus two additional IG channels for future independent eyepoint views; and a three channel IG system replacement for FutureFlight Central?s existing SGI system used for development; B. The IG system must support the existing MaxSim? 2.8 based simulation, including, at a minimum, all existing MaxSim 2.8 visual effects; C. The IG system must be delivered, integrated, and tested at NASA Ames FutureFlight Central; D. The IG system must demonstrate the ability to display 200 moving aircraft models simultaneously in the scene; E. The IG system must sustain a refresh rate of 30 Hz while displaying up to 100,000 polygons of all moving models. Deliverables: A. Fourteen (14) PC based IGs (Dell Precision WS380 3G 800 2G RAM, running XPP and with video card: ASUS N7800GT 512M, or equivalent), to support the primary display system. Any deviation from the specified equipment must be approved by NASA; B. One (1) VMAX Display System License for the primary display system; C. Three (3) PC based IGs (Dell Precision WS380 3G 800 2G RAM, running XPP and with video card: ASUS N7800GT 512M, or equivalent), to support the preview display system. Any deviation from the specified equipment must be approved by NASA;. D. One (1) VMAX Display System License for the preview display system; E. Two days of Adacel technical support training on the new IGs including 1) training and user manuals (3 copies) for airport database and aircraft model creation 2) training and documentation for VegaPrime control functions (e.g. .adf file) 3) database file structure; F. Conversion of NASA?s Adacel standard format, GSFO visual database, to VMAX; G. Replacement of all NASA's Adacel provided legacy visual models (such as aircraft and ground vehicles) with the current VMAX versions; H. One (1) year of standard warranty including hardware and software problem resolution, help desk support, software patches, and hardware trouble shooting, parts and labor; I. 3D to 2D conversion tool and documentation; J. Licenses for any third party software required for the integration; K. Interface Control Document (ICD) describing interface between MaxSim 2.8 and PCIG. NASA/ARC intends to purchase the items from Adacel, Inc. because this is the only company known that is uniquely capable of providing the Image Generation System due to the proprietary interface between the PCIG and the existing MaxSim that operates FFC. An award to any other source would require a complete replacement of all of FFC?s operating software because it functions as an integrated system. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
