- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting prospective contractors for Maintenance Dredging of Narraguagus River Federal Channel. The work of this project consists of maintenance dredging of the Narraguagus River Federal Ch annel and anchorage areas to restore the areas to their authorized depths. Dredging of approximately 130,000 cubic yards of predominantly silts and clays, with sand, sawdust and other mill waste will be performed by mechanical bucket dredge. The project will also require removal of boulders and debris from several areas. The dredged material will be placed in scows and disposed of at the Douglas Island Disposal site in Narraguagus Bay, about 5 miles away. Due to environmental restrictions dredging opera tions at the project site will only be permitted from November 1, 2006 through April 15, 2007. All dredging work must be completed within one dredging season. Dredging operations will be permitted 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. The channel and so me anchorages were last dredged in 1968. The 11-foot channel was dredged again in February-April 2004. The NAICS code for this Procurement is 237990, with a Size Standard of $17.02 million. This solicitation is issued on an unrestricted basis. The est imated issue date for this procurement is on or about 20 June 2006. Prospective contractors and subcontractors are required to self-register their firm or office on the Internet to receive the solicitation.
