Description
THIS ACTION IS BEING CONSIDERED FOR A TOTAL HUBZONE SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE (Details Below). Prime Contractors who are HUBZone small businesses and who intend to submit a bid for this solicitation MUST submit the following by e-mail to CFLContracts@fhwa.dot.gov or by telefax to 720-963-3360 (Attn: LeeAnn Bush) for receipt by close of business (4:30 p.m. local Denver time) on June 13, 2006; (1) a positive statement of your intention to submit a bid for this solicitation as a Prime Contractor; (2) a copy of the letter from SBA stating date of HUBZone small business certification (must be obtained prior to date of this synopsis); (3) letter from bonding agent stating bonding capability, to include single and aggregate totals; and (4) listing of experience in work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project titles, dollar amounts, and points of contact including phone numbers. All of the above must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on availability of interested HUBZone concerns. Failure to submit all information requested will result in a contractor being considered not interested in this solicitation. A decision on whether this will be pursued as a HUBZone small business set-aside or on an unrestricted basis will be made following the due date and posted on this site. PROJECT DETAILS: The Zion - Mt. Carmel Highway, Zion 10 (SR 9), begins at the park?s south entrance and continues north and east to the East Entrance to the park. The Zion ? Mt. Carmel tunnel is located on this road approximately 4 miles northeast of the south entrance. This project involves parking and safety improvements at the east and west portals of the tunnel. Specific improvements on the east side include; rock scaling; roadway widening to incorporate a safety median for the tunnel ranger; construction of sidewalk connecting parking lots and the trailhead; relocation of guard kiosk; reconstruction of parking area; addition of rumble strips; and bridge maintenance. On the west side of the tunnel, rumble strips will be added. The estimated price range is between $400,000 and $600,000. Principal work items include: 270 cuyd roadway excavation; 250 tons roadway aggregate; 165 tons minor hot asphalt concrete; 2600 LB structural steel; 640 lnft stone curb; 309 sqyd colored concrete sidewalk; heavy equipment operators; signing, pavement markings, signal lighting and traffic control.
