Description
The Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), has a requirement for 80 NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) transmitters for operational deployment. Of these 80 transmitters, 11 will be International Radio and Electronics Corporation (IREC) Model No. WRG300 NWR transmitters, 12 will be IREC Model No. WRG1000 NWR transmitters, 17 will be Armstrong Transmitter Corporation (Armstrong) Model No. G300 NWR transmitters, 3 will be Armstrong Model No. G1000 NWR transmitters, 3 will be 300 Watt NWR transmitters (no specific make or model number specified) and 34 will be 1000 Watt NWR transmitters (no specific make or model number specified). Deliveries of the IREC and Armstrong model NWR transmitters will be made F.O.B. Destination to various locations within the United States commencing within two months after award. Deliveries of the NWR transmitters that are not specified as to make and model number will be made F.O.B. Destination to the National Logistics Support Center in Kansas City, Missouri commencing not later than six months after award. The reason for specifying make and model numbers for certain of the NWR transmitters is due to the savings associated with maintaining the existing logistics and maintenance infrastructure already in place at the geographic locations where these NWR transmitters will be deployed. Introducing new make and model number NWR transmitters to these locations would result in the incurrence of additional support costs outweighing the value of competition for the NWR transmitters for these sites. Solicitation DG133W-RP-0154 will be issued on or about June 5, 2006 and will close on or about July 5, 2006. Interested parties are advised that this procurement is an interim measure and that a larger procurement of NWR transmitters spanning several years is expected to take place during Government Fiscal Year 2007. See Notes 2, 12, and 26.
