- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Bio-Rad Laboratories, Hercules, CA, for a Bio-Plex 200 Array Reader. The Bio-Plex Array Readers are instruments currently used by the Bioterrorism Response and Advance Technology Laboratory for the development and improvement of diagnostic assays. Both nucleic acid-based and immunological assays will be developed using these instruments. These assays are used by the Laboratory Response Network (LRN) for the rapid detection of biothreat agents. It is required that we use advance technology for the development of quality assays, thus requiring the latest version of the instrument and accompanying software. The vendor is the only supplier that can provide the instruments. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued.
