Description
Integrated Project Delivery and Project Management Synopsis Integrated Project Delivery and Project Management Synopsis Bridge engineers have used accelerated bridge construction practices successfully for many years worldwide. Now with the advent of high performance materials and emerging new technologies, the paradigm is rapidly changing to give greater emphasis on accelerated construction for renewal of the Nation?s highway infrastructure involving roads, bridges, and other structures. The accelerated bridge construction technology with automated fabrication, construction and preservation aligns itself well with the strategic goals of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in improving safety, mobility and production, human and natural environments and organizational excellence. The scope of this work includes developing a demonstration project for steel and concrete bridges to achieve ?Integrated Project Delivery and Project Management? objectives and identify available technologies; develop integrated engineering software demonstration package(s) that has promise to promote faster and more efficient automated processes applicable through the entire life cycle (design, fabrication, construction, and preservation) for bridge owners and contractors. The engineering software package will include guidelines and training materials to drive transition among users from current practices to synergistic integrated automation. Integrated automation through 3-D modeling will include an extension of the conventional 2-D methodology in designing, constructing and maintaining bridges. This project will generate an architectural blueprint for integrating various phases into the automated processes yet it will have the potential to produce significantly improved 2-D design drawings as well as construction drawings in conjunction with life cycle management through automation. Concepts identified will be evaluated for feasibility and those found to have merit, shall be recommended for the development and demonstrations including half-day and two-day modules. It is anticipated that the resulting contract duration will be for 30 months. It is anticipated this requirement will be Full and Open to all sources. The solicitation, all related documents and amendments, if any, will only be released and available electronically through the FedBizOpps posting system at http://www.fedbizopps.gov under the Vendors option followed by selection of the Department of Transportation (DOT) center. As such, no written, telephonic, facsimile or email requests for the solicitation package will be honored. Interested parties can register at the aforementioned site to receive procurement announcements by email. Since this solicitation will only be available electronically, it is solely the responsibility of interested parties to monitor the FedBizOpps website for any solicitation amendments. The NAICS code for this solicitation is 541710. NO OTHER PROCUREMENT INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit an offer.
