Description
This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. REQUESTS FOR A SOLICITATION WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE. This Sources Sought Synopsis is in support of market research being conducted by the Air Force to identify capable potential sources. The primary purpose of this contract is the purchase and installation of a hydraulic type elastoforming press for the MANMMS Sheet Metal Manufacturing Shop in building 3001 at Tinker AFB. The elastoforming/rubber pad press shall consist of, but is not limited to the following principle components, attachments, and accessories necessary to meet the requirements: - Press main structure. The press main structure shall consist of a homogeneous design to support the pressures obtained during the forming cycle. The press body shall consist of a lower plate or platen designed to hold or support the forming die, an upper plate with a pad container designed to hold the polyurethane or rubber pad(s), and the compression pistons or cylinders to direct the forming pressures as specified. - Hydraulic System. The hydraulic system provided shall be complete including pumps, cylinders, valves, piping, and pressure controls. The fluid temperature shall be maintained within the proper operating range during all normal operations of the machine. An intensifier or high-pressure pump to achieve pressures above 5000 psi shall be acceptable for the equipment design. - Stored cycles. Using the touch-screen, an operator shall have the ability to save processes and settings of a frequently run cycle without the use of proprietary software. The saved sequences for these frequently manufactured parts shall be named by part number and selected through menus on the touch-screen. Adequate storage for up to 500 programmed parts should be available on the system hard drive. - Time cycle. The press shall be able to complete one forming cycle in 180 seconds or less, including table infeed, forming to pressure, and outfeed. - Sizes and capacities. The following sizes and capacities are the minimum requirements unless otherwise stated: MACHINE CAPACITIES AND DIMENSIONS FORMING CAPACITY OF PRESS 8,200 psi FORMING PAD DIMENSIONS Oblong 49 in x 78 in FORMING PAD HEIGHT 21 in TOOL HEIGHT RANGE 0 ? 8 in DAYLIGHT 9 in MACHINE HEIGHT 24 ft above floor (max) FLOORSPACE CONSUMED 20 ft x 20 ft (max) *not including hydraulic room Delivery and Installation. Contractor shall be responsible for construction of 18 x 30 x 10 deep pit in existing industrial facility at Tinker AFB. Construction shall include excavation, removal of debris and pouring of sufficient foundation depth to accommodate equipmen Contractors responding to this Sources Sought Synopsis shall submit the following information electronically no later than April 17 2006, 4:30 PM EST to Derek.Gadberry@tinker.af.mil. Responses must include the following: name and address of firm, capabilities, size of business; average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees; ownership; whether they are large, small, small disadvantaged, 8(a), HUBZone, and/or woman-owned; number of years in business; affiliate information: parent company, joint venture partners; intent to participate in the upcoming acquisition as a prime offeror; list of customers covering the past five years (highlight relevant work performed, contract numbers, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and point of contact - address and phone number). The page limitation for this submission is ten (10) pages. Any information submitted by respondents to this synopsis strictly voluntary. The Government will not reimburse the respondents for any costs associated with their responses. This synopsis does not constitute a Request for Proposals (RFP), or an Invitation for Bids (IFB), nor does its issuance restrict the Government as to its ultimate acquisition approach. The Government will neither award a contract solely on the basis of this notice, nor pay for any information that is submitted by respondents to the Sources Sought request. The Government reserves the right to contact the submitting parties, on an as required basis, for further clarification on material provided. The Government will evaluate the information provided, use it to document our market research and develop the RFP. In addition, the Government will use its evaluation of the information and other research to determine the sources that appear qualified to perform the work required by the Government.
