- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a sole source purchase order to the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO) for the development of a Guidebook for Transportation Planning: Including System Management and Operations in Regional Transportation Plans.The guidebook will help meet the metropolitan planning requirements in SAFETEA-LU and will also fulfill the mission of FHWA to improve metropolitan transportation systems. AMPO is the only known source qualified to develop this guidebook because AMPO's members and the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) community is responsible for administering the federal funding program and project planning process for metro areas. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about April 24th, 2006.
