- The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to procure services regarding custom media (lot matched custom formula RPMI 1640 and DMEM media with and without Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS).) The supplies and services herein are commercial as defined in FAR Part 2, and this acquisition is being made in accordance with the test program for using commercial items as authorized in FAR Part 13. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 325414 and the business size standard is 500 employees. This requirement is being set-aside for Small Businesses. The National Cancer Institute is involved in both clinical and extensive research evaluations of many types of cancers. Our mission is to examine abnormal cancer cells for metabolic, genetic, and immunological differences that may contribute to their occurrence and proliferation and/or provide information which will aid in the determination of the most effective treatment for a specific type of cancer. NCI has Principle Investigators investigating cancerous cell lines in regards to such topics as gene regulation, biochemical pathology, pathogenetics, developmental biology, women?s cancers, hematopathology (Leukemias and Lymphomas), Pediatric tumor biology and cell life cycle regulation. All of these laboratories require a reliable and consistent quality of cell culture media in order to continue long-term and ongoing experiments. Contractor Requirements: 1) Contractor shall manufacture media in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and standard laboratory practices and guidelines, 2) Media shall contain Penicillin G and Streptomycin as antibiotics (contractor shall have a dedicated facility or dedicate a facility for the use of penicillin regarding the manufacture of this media), 3) During the evaluation of technically acceptable quotations, contractors will be notified to submit media samples for testing, 4) Contractor shall have sufficient stock of the chosen lot of HA-FBS to manufacturer the media for entire contract and, 5) Contractor shall store product at contractor facility at no additional cost to the Government. Period of Performance: One (1) year after initial award with four (4) additional one (1) year options. Solicitation: The RFQ must be requested by electronic mail or by fax. Telephone requests will not be accepted. Request for the RFQ shall be made to the attention of Malinda Holdcraft, Contract Specialist via electronic mail to holdcram@exchange.nih.gov or fax 301-402-4513. Requests shall include name of the contractor, complete mailing address, DUNS number, telephone and fax numbers, point of contact and electronic mail address, business size standard, and identify the RFQ requested as RFQ-NCI-60052-NG on all correspondence. The deadline of this synopsis is April 10, 2006 at 1 PM EST. The estimated issue date of the solicitation is April 11, 2006 and the estimated due date is April 26, 2006.
