Description
This dredging project includes new work for the improvement of the Columbia River from River Mile 21+10 to approximately River Mile 35 and River Mile 90 to River Mile 95. Disposal of new work material from River Mile 21+10 to River Mile 35 will be in the Columbia River Estuary and the ocean placement site. Disposal of new work material from River Mile 90 to River Mile 95 will be in the Gateway Upland Site located at approximately River Mile 101. Maintenance dredging will be performed under this contra ct at the Mouth of the Columbia River and the Columbia River from River Mile 3 to River Mile 21 and River Mile 35 to RM 90 (non-continuous). Material from the Mouth of the Columbia River will be placed in the Shallow Water Placement Site (formerly Site E). Maintenance material from the Columbia River will be place at designated in-water sites with in the Columbia River. The Contractor shall be required to commence work at any time after Notice to proceed to prosecute the work diligently and complete the wor k in accordance with the contract specifications, but not anticipated later than December 31, 2006. A Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided for all new contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District. For this project, the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of 3 years safety work with simil ar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last 3 years. The SSHO may have other duties for this work that include being the Contractor on-site Project Manager and/or the on-site CQC Manager or other responsib le individual.
