- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate and sole source purchase order to the National Academies of Science (NAS) for a Co-Sponsorship. The NAS will provide the current state of the mesoscale atmospheric observations, compare the U.S. mesoscale atmospheric observing system to other observing system benchmarks, describe attributes of the integrated national mesoscale observing system in addition to identifying steps to enhance the mesoscale meteorological national needs. NAS has the expertise, knowledge and history with the FHWA?s road weather management program. Additionally, NAS in conjunction with the Board of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC) has the capability of bringing an understanding to the public as it relates to the Earth?s atmosphere and climate; this will be done through the federal government issues that arise within the boards (NAS) expertise and knowledge on the subject matter. Because NAS are the sponsors for their conference as well as providing the funding, facilitators, and meeting site they are the only source for their conference. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is April 6, 2006.
