- NASA/MSFC has a requirement for 3 different types of slot-0 controllers, part numbers; V153-AD31, AL40-ALA6, and DX10-ALA6 for the support of the Structural and Dynamics Analysis Branch at Marshall Space Flight Center. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from KineticSystems Company on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b) due to the proprietary natural of their products. Marshall Space Flight Center is presently using a KineticSystems controller On-site which these new slot-0 devices will be integrated into, therefore compatibility is essential. Market research has determined that the KineticSystems slot-0 controllers are technically superior to other slot-0 controllers in the marketplace. They offer faster processor speeds and their unique architecture will provide quicker access to faster processors which are needed to support NASA mission needs. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Janet Appleton at janet.l.appleton@msfc.nasa.gov no later than 4:30 p.m. CST by March 27, 2006. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
