- Description
- The Seattle District US Army Corps of Engineers requires a new debris boom system at the Chief Joseph Dam project in accordance with the solicitation Statement of Work. Chief Joseph Dam, at Bridgeport Washington, has a floating boom that acts as a debris barrier, primary and boat barrier, secondary. The existing boom consists of steel floats partially filled with concrete, attached to a submerged steel cable. The existing boom extends to about 30 below water. The existing boom has performed both fu nctions satisfactorily, but has had excessive corrosion problems that have caused floats to lose buoyancy and caused the cable to fray. In addition, the specific wind conditions force a portion of the boom onto the shore, sometimes causing it to break. Thi s project is to design, provide and deliver a new boom. The new boom is to provide the same primary functions as the existing boom, and remedy the corrosion problems and the problem of blowing ashore. This procurement is to provide all materials and servi ces to design and deliver a new boom to the Chief Joseph Dam project in Bridgeport, Washington. There is an option for installation. All work shall be complete by September 30, 2006. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 332313 with a size standard of 500 employees.
