Description
The US Army Communications Electronics Research, Development & Engineering Center (CERDEC), Fort Monmouth, NJ is conducting an industry survey of interested foreign sources, under the Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Program, to provide lightweight man-portable wireless transmission equipment for a Wireless Broadband Communications Network, featuring Time Division Duplex (TDD) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access (OFDMA) with a 10 MHz bandwidth to provide a peak Downlink Data Rate of 1 0 Mbps and a user Uplink data rate of 3 Mbps to provide a high data rate radio transmission capability over a IEEE standard 802.16 network for tactical users. The CERDEC is interested in assessing the capabilities of this technology and its potential depl oyment to Army tactical units. It is CERDECs intention to eventually purchase up to two systems. Each system must be able to be capable of operation as a stand alone wireless system and of operating together to provide a larger coverage area and as a sub-n etwork within current legacy networks. The proposed equipment would operate in one the following frequency bands: 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz or 5.8 GHz. These systems must be capable of operating in a C4I network and be able to support the next generation o f IP multimedia services capable of providing the simultaneous transfer of voice, data, text, pictures, audio and video telephony. The contractor must provide user training, operator manuals/applications and frequency spectrum support. At this time CERDEC requests that interested sources provide information regarding their man-portable wireless transmission network equipment. This information should include all the elements that comprise the man-portable wireless transmission system to include brochures, pi ctures and specifications. This request for information (RFI)/Sources Sought (SS) Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the US Army CERDEC. The purpose of this R FI/SS is to identify potential foreign sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. US Army CERDEC does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any informat ion submitted or for CERDECs use of such information. Acknowledgement of receipt of responses will not be made, nor will respondents be notified of CERDECs evaluation of the information received. An original and one copy shall be sent to the US Army, Commu nications Electronics Research, Development & Engineering Center (CERDEC), Attn: : AMSRD-CER-ST-WL-AW, Wesley Rucker, Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5303. Technical questions may be directed to either Wesley Rucker at 732-427-2498 or Ed Erskine at 732-427-2246.
