Description
Solar Energy Technology Program This is not an Acquisition Solicitation. This is a Financial Assistance Pre-Solicitation Notice for the Solar America Initiative (SAI) Technology Pathway Partnerships Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). This notice is to disseminate the opportunity across industry. The Department of Energy???s Solar Energy Technologies Program (SETP) is sponsoring a Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) to facilitate contributions to planning for the Solar America Initiative. The goal of the SAI is to make electricity generated by PV systems cost-competitive with other electricity sources by CY2015, promoting commercialization of 5-10 GW of new grid-connected generating capacity by that year. In pursuit of this Initiative, an initial, competitive Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is currently planned for issuance in CY2006. A Notice of Program Interest (NOPI), DE-PS36-06GO96021, was issued March 3, 2006, requesting industry and stakeholder input for this planned FOA. The NOPI may be accessed at the DOE Industry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS) at https://e-center.doe.gov/ under Financial Assistance Opportunities. Comments and recommendations received from respondents to this NOPI, as well as discussions of the same critical issues identified in the NOPI at this Technical Exchange Meeting, will have a significant impact on shaping the program direction for the SAI, as well as the content of the initial FOA action. This Technical Exchange Meeting will occur in Chicago, Illinois in mid-April 2006, and will be open to participation by all external organizations on a space-limited basis. The meeting registration materials, meeting agenda, and discussion topics, as well as any other information considered relevant to the meeting and of interest to potential attendees, will be available in the near future. The Technical Exchange Meeting is for informational purposes only and comments made during this meeting are not to be construed as final or superseding the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), when issued. The government does not intend to pay for individuals, educational institutions, associations/organizations, industry or any party attending at this meeting or pay for information exchanges/comments received from said parties at this meeting. No special arrangements have been made for lodging arrangements for attendees at this meeting.
