- Description
- NASA/LaRC has a requirement for developing and testing technologies that will enable comprehensive measurements of the long wavelength emission spectrum of the Earth and the Planets. NASA is particularly interested in measurements of the "far-infrared" emission spectrum, defined as wavelengths between 10 and 100 micrometers. NASA requires detectors that offer background- limited-performance when operated at temperatures at 10 kelvin or above. The Government's budget for this procurement is $200,000 and it is anticipated that DRS will provide matching funds. DRS was the only respondent to a Sources Sought Synopsis posted on January 20, 2006. NASA/LaRC intends to negotiate with DRS on a sole source basis. Based on the market research conducted, DRS is the only known source that can meet our requirements for detector technology development within the available funding as augmented by matching funds. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See note 22. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
