- Upgrades to the Fire Potential Section of the Fuels Characteristic Classification System (FCCS). The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Pacific Wildland Fire Sciences Laboratory, Fire & Environmental Research Applications (FERA), is soliciting prospective contractors for technical assistance to: (1) revise draft manuscript for publication; (2) provide revised equations and logic behind the surface fire behavior potentials for FCCS 1.1; (3) write a manuscript comparing the surface fire behavior potentials in FCCS with equations developed by Rothermel and Frandsen; (4) write a report on possible international applications of FCCS; and (5) conduct presentations on FCCS to scientific and management clients. All tasks are to be completed by August 31, 2007. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541690, with a Size Standard of $6.5 million. This solicitation is issued as a 100% set-aside for small business. The estimated issue date for the solicitation is March 22, 2006. Prospective contractors and subcontractors are requested to self-register below to receive notification of any postings concerning this project.
