Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to procure the brand name Biogenex Model i6000 Automated Staining System (Universal) (catalog number AS6007) or equal including: a) Microwave-Biogenex EZ Retriever (Catalog number MQ002-MO) or equal. This acquisition will be conducted under the procedures for acquiring commercial items authorized in FAR Part 12 and under the authority to use simplified procedures for commercial requirements as provided in FAR 13.5. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The following salient characteristic apply: Item 1: Biogenex Automated Staining System Model i6000 or equal: A) Performs on-board dewaxing, B) Performs immunohistochemistry, C) Performs special stains, D) Performs in situ hybridization, E) Capacity of 60 slides and 60 reagents and, F) Allows multiple staining programs to be run simultaneously allowing several researchers to use instrument for different purposes which increases productivity and, G) Makes many runs at the same time with different antibodies. Item 2): Microwave-Biogenex EZ Retriever or equal: A) Special sensor that maintains constant temperature to ensure standardized processing of all tissue sections, B) Capacity of 96 slides for large runs, C) Teflon tanks to withstand high temperatures, D) Rater power of at least 1700 Watts and, E) Width of less than 24 inches to fit assigned space. Justification: Consistency is extremely important in immunohistochemistry and the use of an automated staining system is critical for that consistency. As NCI will be running a large volume of samples, those samples will be highly varied as to type of protocol and needs a high degree of flexibility in the set up and programming of the stainer. The Biogenex i6000 Automated Staining System or equal will allow NCI to make many runs at the same time with different antibodies.
