Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), intends to negotiate with International Personnel Protection, Austin, TX to procure a final technical report to support revision of NFPA 1999, Standard on Protective Clothing for Emergency Medical Operations. The agency is unaware of any contractor capable of performing these services. The contractor shall perform a series of investigations that will provide the basis for recommending specific, appropriate criteria for the protection of first responders during emergency medical operations. Specific areas of work focus are cleaning gloves, single use protective garments, footwear covers, and face protection devices. This project will entail a thorough hazard assessment, review of industry products, test method selection, and the development of criteria to establish appropriate levels of protection for first responders engaged in emergency medical operations. The Contractor shall participate in meetings of the NFPA Technical Committee on Emergency Medical Operations Protective Clothing and Equipment. The contractor shall submit monthly technical and property progress reports, an information collection plan, an interim report, a test plan, draft recommendations, draft final report, and the final report. Final report due no later than seventeen (17) months after contract award. Firms that believe that they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written documentation to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the date of this synopsis. A determination not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. If the agency determines to compete this requirement, a RFQ will be issued solely to the responders of this notice and a subsequent presolicitation notice will not be issued. All vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) prior to award of a federal contract. Vendors may register at www.ccr.gov. Please address all inquiries to Denise L. Rains at (509)354-8111 or E-mail dgr8@cdc.gov. This procurement is set aside for small business. Simplified Acquisition procedures will be followed.
