- NASA/LaRC has a requirement for High Power Broad Band RF Amplifiers, 3 each. NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Amplifier Research Corporation, as the only known source who can meet the Agency's needs. The purpose of these amplifiers is to complete the capability for radiated suspectibility testing that will be utilized in upcoming aeronautical programs. Amplifier Research Corporation equipment is currently in use in the High Intensity Radiated Fields Laboratory and the Semi-Anechoic Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Laboratory. It is vital to this research that the amplifiers are compatible with the existing equipment already in use in the two laboratories. The purchase of other manufacturers' equipment would require modifications to the amplifiers, requiring expenditure of manpower and costs and hours lost. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on Friday, February 24, 2006. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
