Description
NIGHT VISION GOGGLES WITH COLOR VIEWING CAPABILITIES REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY FOR PLANNING PURPOSES. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION DRAWING PACKAGE AVAILABLE. This is a request for information only as defined in FAR 15.201(e). The government does not presently intend to award a contract, but wants to obtain information on commercially available Color Night Vision Goggles. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Air Warfare Battlelab (AWB), Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, is planning to conduct a study that will evaluate commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products that could be used as-is or slightly modified to solve this problem: Improved night vision capabilities that will enhance depth of field and target or objective identification. The following attributes are our requirements of the capability: 1. Display separate colors and have better contrast than current Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) 2. Show clearer depth of field to user than current NVGs 3. Attach to aircrew helmets or be worn on personnel?s head with attachment system 4. Be retrofitted into all existing binocular systems currently being used by DoD, including but not limited to: AN/AVS-6 and 9, AN/PVS-5A, B, and C, M908, M909, M915A, AN/PVS-15, F5050, AN/AVS-502 low profile goggles, Wide Field of View, and possible Panoramic Goggle configurations 5. Preferred type of battery would be AA alkaline batteries (rotary) or ?-AA lithium batteries and must be commercially available 6. Need to accommodate eyeglasses 7. Easy to use in a field location or survival situation and require no electricity 8. Extreme Durability for field conditions The AWB is seeking the following specific information from industry representatives: 1. The manufacturers suggested retail price and/or a schedule of lease pricing for commercial product. To include separate purchase of filter systems versus complete goggles 2. Cost of Technical support or Training needed to use equipment 3. Possible use of demo equipment, (preferred 3 sets of night vision goggles), at no cost to Air Force 4. The name of distributors who could sell to the Government. 5. The degree to which the product can meet or exceed the above desirable and beneficial attributes of the USAF. Requested information must be submitted NO LATER THAN 3 Mar 06 to Major Cathy Blacklock, Air Warfare Battlelab, 360 Gunfighter Ave, Suite 1, Mountain Home AFB, ID 83648 or Email cathy.blacklock@mountainhome.af.mil. Major Blacklock can be reached at (208) 828-3542. A formal solicitation MAY NOT BE ISSUED as a result of this RFI. Information provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. The USAF will not release any information -- marked with a Proprietary legend -- received in response to this RFI to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside the USAF without written permission in accordance with the legend.
