- In support of the Small Tactical Electric Power (STEP) Program and on behalf of the Program Manager - Mobile Electric Power (PM-MEP), the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), Communication and Electronics, RD&E Center (CERD EC), Command and Control Directorate (C2D), Army Power Division, Power Generation Branch, Fort Belvoir, VA is performing a market survey for a Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA). The PM-MEP is interested in learning about Permanent Magnet Alternators suitable for operation in a variable speed generator set with rated output of 3kW and below. The PMA shall meet the following minimum requirements: sustain continuous output at 0.8 Pow er Factor, provide output between 120 to 240 VAC, operate between -25 ?F to 140 ?F at all levels of humidity, and operate between 1000 to 3600 RPM. The weight of the PMA shall not exceed 25 pounds. The volume of the PMA shall not exceed 360 cubic inches. The CERDEC Power Generation Branch is interested in obtaining White Papers, not exceeding 10 pages in length describing the contractors experience in design, development, fabrication and test of PMA, detailed specifications of PMA, and a Rough Order of Ma gnitude (ROM) unit cost for potential future government procurements. The data received in response to this RFI is for information purposes only and does not mandate or impose requirements. It is desirable that data be received with unlimited rights to the Government. However, we recognize that proprietary data may be includ ed with the information provided. If so, clearly mark such proprietary information and clearly separate it from the unrestricted information as an addendum. All responses to this market research shall be submitted within 45 calendar days of the date of thi s announcement.
