Description
NCI is under contract to White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) for test range engineering and program support. Under this effort, NCI will be implementing a secure wireless network to support test data collection and transport. NCI provides this request for information (RFI) for those vendors that have off-the-shelf products that can support the WSMR wireless requirements. NCI is interested in those off-the-shelf wireless products that are open standards based. A specific need is for a short range wire less product (up to five miles) that is 802.11b compatible, but transmits in the 1.8GHz to 1.9GHz frequency spectrum, and provides mobile capability. The 1.8 GHz system should provide 802.11a/b/g services translated to the 1.8 GHz frequencies either by replicating the 802.11a/b/g PHY in the 1.8 GHz spectrum or by converting 2.4 GHz 802.11a/b/g PHY signals to 1.8 GHz. The complete system must conform to the specifications of the 802.11a/b/g PHY as described in the standards. As a separate component, the converter must meet the following requirements, as a minimum: +/- 2.5 PPM frequency stability 50 ohm RF connection Transmit power-on ramp for 10% to 90% maximum power no greater than 2 ?s. Transmit power-down ramp for 90% to 10% maximum power no greater than 2 ?s. Noise Figure 3.5 dB Minimum transmitter output power 500mW with 3 non-overlapping channels. Systems that are ruggedized are desired, but not required. Systems must be able to receive and transmit in a secure mode. In responding to the RFI, the vendor should provide the availability of the identified equipment, and the capabilities of the equipment. The vendor should indicate whether a demonstration system can be provided for up to three months of testing. If the v endor has the identified equipment in use by the DoD or U.S. Government, than provide up to three references of those users. In providing a response to the RFI, marketing materials or slips sheets are acceptable, but the vendor should also provide additio nal annotation of those capabilities in the materials that are not available off-the-shelf. Alternative frequency spectrums may be acceptable, and can be submitted by vendors. While this information is intended to support future acquisition efforts, there is no guarantee that this RFI will lead to procurement. NCI requests that all responses be no longer than 10 pages in length and be submitted within 45 days after this RFI request. Please submit your responses and any questions about this RFI to: Mr. Mel Santana NCI Information Systems, Inc.
