- 1. What direction is the sidewalk going in or coming from; is coming from the road or is it coming from the building? Answer: The sidewalk is coming in from the road. 2. Further instructions on concrete slab were given by Civil Engineering as a result of the question Can you verify that a concrete slab will be required underneath the pavilion and is to be the same size and shape as the pavilion? a) Type of reinforcements? b) Thickness? c) Type? Answer: Overhang. The roof overhangs the posts by 2 ft. on the flat side. Size of concrete slab. For a 50' shelter the concrete pad would be 49 ft. at the point. Reinforcement: We recmmend #4 or #5 vertical rebar and #3 horizontal rebar for the reinforcement in the footings. For the slab we recommend steel mesh reinforcement. Footing size. Minimum of 2 ft. diameter and 42" deep. Thickness of concrete: Minimum of 4" Type of concrete: minimum of 2,500 psi concrete, reinforced.
