- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command, Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) intends to contract on a sole source basis with Agilent Technologies, Wilmington, DE, for a benchtop quadrupole Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) system with electron impact (EI) detection to identify trace organic compounds with high molecular weights in aviation fuels and lubricants. The GC/MS system shall have the following: 1) a mass range capability of 1050 amu or more, 2) a stability of 0.10 amu over 48 hours or better, 3) a fast scan capability of 10,000 amu/second, 4) a long lasting, low maintenance, high sensitivity ion source, 5) an EI scan sensitivity of 100:1 signal to noise for 1 pg octafluoronaphthalene at nominal 272 m/z when scanning from 50-300 amu or better, 6) MS low maintenance capabilities, and 7) a GC oven temperature of 450 degrees C or higher. Agilent is the only manufacturer to meet the Navy's requirement. No solicitation or RFP exists. However, interested parties may submit a statement of capability.
