- The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) requires maintenance service on their "Biomek 2000", a highly specialized analytical laboratory instrument used for the forensic testing of DNA. This requirement is being issued by GovWorks under the franchise authority of the Department of the Interior on behalf of AFIP in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Beckman Coulter of California for this requirement in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. Beckman Coulter is the OEM of the "Biomek 2000" and the only authorized party that services the equipment.
