- Description
- The Air Force Research Laboratory Propulsion Directorate (AFRL/PR), Edwards AFB, CA intends to issue a request for proposal (RFP) within the next 60 days for a research and development (R&D) contract with proposals due 45 days after RFP issuance. This requirement provides for on-site theoretical and experimental rocket and missile propulsion research in the physical and engineering disciplines in conjunction with some sub-contracting duties. This effort will focus on basic research and the engineering that supports it and the transition of the technology. Typical research focus areas include, but are not limited to, propellant research, chemical/material sciences, aerophysics, analytical chemistry, electric/satellite propulsion, and advanced propulsion concepts. This acquisition will be a re-compete of the Research in Propulsion Science contract. This solicitation will be 100% set-aside for small business. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for is effort will be 541710. The source selection will be conducted utilizing Best Value approach IAW AFFARS 5315. It is anticipated that a cost plus fixed fee contract will be awarded to one offeror. The anticipated period of performance will consist of a five-year basic effort with two (2) two-year options. Contract award is estimated to take place by the end of fiscal year 2006. The award will be made to the offeror that the Government has the greatest confidence will best satisfy the requirements at a reasonable cost.
