Description
Services of an Architectural or Engineering firm with specialized experience in design and construction of mechanical equipment projects supporting a 24/7 healthcare organization to participate in site investigation, design, preparation of working drawings/construction documents, and construction period services for Project 596-06-117, REPLACE FREEZERS, LD at VA Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Project involves replacement of five (5) failing freezers and refrigerators, in Nutrition & Food Service, with varying temperature requirements. A portion of the work involves "built-in" units that will require demolition of insulated walls to allow for maximum size of new units. It is anticipated that the new units will be newly installed "cubes" meeting the temperature and volume requirements identified during detailed design. Design will address phasing and impact evaluation required for uninterrupted food delivery during construction. Estimated construction cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. Project will be accomplished in AutoCad .dwg format; specifications will be accomplished in Microsoft Word .doc format. This announcement is restricted to firms that are located within a 100 miles radius of VAMC, Lexington, KY, and is set-aside 100% for EMERGING SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. An emerging small business is a small business concern whose size is no greater than 50% of the numerical size standard of $4.5 million for NAICS 541330. (Small Emerging threshold is $2.25 Million). Interested firms, with required specialization, must submit three copies of Standard Form 330, Architect-Engineer qualifications, no later than 2:00 p.m. EST March 2, 2006, to the issuing office. (Fed-ex or hand-carried submissions to be delivered to VA Medical Center, Attn: Angie Napier (90C), Bldg. 2, Rm. 206, 2250 Leestown Road, Lexington, KY 40511.) Respondents will be reviewed on the basis of: professional qualifications; specialized experience and technical competence in projects of similar type; ability to accomplish the work in the required timeframe; past performance on contracts for projects of similar type; team proposed for this project; previous experience of proposed team; project control (design schedule control and quality assurance reviews of submission documents); and estimating effectiveness. Note: each of these specific review items shall be addressed on the qualifications packages submitted. This is NOT a Request for Proposals. No solicitation package will be issued.
