Description
This modification to previous notice issued on 01/24/06 notifies the contracting community of the delay in advertisement from 2/9/06 to 2/16/06. Project plans and specifications are expected to be available at that time. The bid opening date (response due date) has also been changed from 3/14/06 to 3/21/06; 1:00 p.m. All other information remains the same as listed below. This project consists of grading, drainage, paving, and bridge construction on 26.53 km of roadway. The project will start at the intersection of Arizona State Highway 260 and proceed in a southeasterly direction ending at the intersection with AZ SH 261. The first 8.8 km (5.5 miles) will consist of a cold-in place recycled pavement followed with a Superpave overlay. Beginning at the Winter Use parking area (ADOT mile post 383), the proposed reconstruction work will consist of full width grading, some realignment areas, drainage structures, 2 new bridges, wetland mitigation and a new structural asphalt typical section. Principal work items include: survey and staking; lump sum contractor testing; soil erosion control (various); 30,000 m3 dust control; 50 ha clearing and grubbing; 315,000 m3 roadway excavation; 16,000 m3 subexcavation; 18,000 m3 unclassified borrow; 62,500 m2 roadway obliteration; 48,750 m2 subgrade stabilization (various); 1,700 metric tons lime and 110 metric tons fly ash; 2,030 placed riprap (various); 5,600 m3 special rock embankment; 75,000 metric tons aggregate base; 18.5 km shoulder reconditioning; 1,000 metric tons magnesium chloride; 107,000 m2 of 50mm thick superpave aggregate pavement; 184,250 m2 of 75mm thick superpave aggregate pavement; 9.32 km continuous cold recycled asphalt base course; 238 metric tons emulsified binder agent; 844 m3 structural concrete (various); 600 m precast, prestressed concrete girders; 118,950 kg reinforcing steel (various); 304 m concrete bridge railing; 612 m micropiles; 6 each concrete headwall; 1,512 m pipe culvert (various); 70 m precast reinforced concrete box culvert; 1,000 m underdrain system; curb, ditch, wheelstop; sidewalk and accessibility ramp; 3,600 m guardrail system, wood posts; fencing, gates and cattle guards; heavy equipment operators; mitigation; and associated seeding, mulching, planting, signing, and temporary traffic control. No water sources are expected to be identified in the contract. At the Contractor's option, the Burro Mountain pit may be used for production of 301 & 401 aggregates. A special use permit and environmental clearance, (to be obtained by the Contractor) will be necessary for use of this pit. Tentative advertisement date is February 9, 2006.
