Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled TEAMING OPPORTUNITY FOR NASA KSC TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE which was posted on February 2, 2006. You are notified that Technology Areas 4 and 5 entitled "Metal Oxide Coatings" and "Atmospheric Plasma Glow Discharge (APGD) Device" respectively, are hereby added: ?4) Metal Oxide Coatings NASA KSC is currently seeking partner(s) to collaborate in the application of metal oxide coatings utilizing plasma spraying. Potential partners must have a plasma spray system to be utilized in this collaboration, which meets the following characteristics: (1) the ability to control the attitude of the plasma system (one possible solution is to mount the plasma gun on a robotic arm which enables 360 degree orientation of the spray); (2) the capacity to measure particle temperature, velocity and distribution within the plasma, and finally, (3) the capacity to spray a plasma with either nano- and micron-sized particles (solid precursors) or liquid precursors. Qualifying partners must have a plasma spray system and experience in and ability to perform surface analysis (e.g., X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, etc.) of the coatings. 5) Atmospheric Plasma Glow Discharge (APGD) Device: KSC is currently seeking partner(s) to collaborate in the development and laboratory testing of a hand-held atmospheric plasma glow discharge (APGD) device. Specifically, KSC desires a compact device that is capable of producing stable plasmas in reactive gases such as O2 and inert gases such as He. The device must operate at temperatures that allow the plasmas to be applied to polymer surfaces without causing damage to the polymers. Qualifying partners must have experience in manufacturing RF or microwave plasma sources, plasma diagnostics, and the use of atmospheric plasma devices for research and/or medical applications.? ***************************************************************************************** ***************************************** The due date for responses is not extended.
