- POC: Tangee Brookie, U. S. Geological Survey, P. O. Box 25046, MS-204A, Denver, CO 80225, e-mail: tbrookie@usgs.gov. The U. S. Geological Survey, Nebraska Water Science Center, has a requirement for a soil probing unit with direct push technology. The system must have the capability to continuously and discreetly sample sandy and saturated soils. It must be capable of the following functions: well installation, ground-water sampling, ground-water monitoring, soil gas sampling, direct sensing of soil parameters, geotechnical data collection, and measure hydraulic conductivity. System must have the capability of performing these functions at depths of greater than 100 feet. It must be mounted on a four-wheel-drive tractor that allows access to remote locations for project work. It must have accessories available that allow manual operation. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the equipment specified as a sole source from KEJR, Inc., DBA Geoprobe Systems, 601 N. Broadway, Salina, KS 67401, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required equipment are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement. See numbered Note 22.
