- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, to facilitate the USACE mission of restoring flood protection at the three outfall canals in New Orleans LA intends to issue a Request for Proposal to supply temporary pumps for three control struct ures. The purchase of the temporary pumps may be accomplished as a single or multiple award contract(s). For the flood protection at each outfall canal, temporary pumps will be supplied, thru the government, to Contractor(s) constructing the three gated flood-control structures. The estimated period for supplying the pumps shall be five to six months. Fifty percent of the pumps shall be delivered to the construction sites in the metropolitan New Orleans area no later that June 1, 2006. The remainder of the pumps shall be delivered by 1 August 2006. The magnitude of the pump purchase shall be approximately $4,000,000 to $10,000,000 for each structure. The total number of pumps for all these structures will be 32. Twelve pumps shall be 54 diameter hori zontal axial-flow pumps and the remaining twenty pumps shall be 60 diameter horizontal axial-flow pumps. All pumps shall be hydraulically driven by diesel engines. Each 54-inch shall be capable of producing a minimum of 150 cfs. Each 60-inch pump shall be capable of producing a minimum of 240 cfs. All pumps must be able to pump across a flood control structure and against a differential head of 14 feet.
