Description
NAICS Code: 334516 Amendment 1: The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions proposed by vendors regarding the synopsis/request for quote. The questions and answers are as follows. Question 1. Can you amplify 7. Auto-montage capability - does this mean computer control of the microscope either through sample translation or beam shifting to form montage images or simply the ability to automatically make a montages image from an appropriate series of images? The 1200EX does not have an automated stage there for what we need is software aided montaging capability. The operator will need to manually reposition the scope then with the aid of the software, have the ability to montage the collection together. We would like to however leave the option open for true auto-montaging if the camera system were eventually moved to a scope with computer stage control capability. Question 2. Can the field of view exceed that of film? Yes, as long as there is no compromise of pixel size (too big or too small). We would like to be in the 15um range. 1:1 optics would be preferable. Question 3. Since all vacuum seals that require outside motion are sliding, be it rotary or linear, what is the intent of point #9? The intent of the request was to have rotary insertion mechanism rather than a linear sliding seal which could transfer contaminants or leak air into the column. Question 4. Is there anything mounted below the microscope's film camera? Would a bottom mounted camera that met or exceeded all of the other specifications including the field of view requirement be considered ? No there is nothing mounted below the camera but a side mounted camera is preferable to avoid contaminants which have the propensity to find their way to the bottom mounted screens. The response date for this Synopsis/RFQ is Jan. 12, 2005 at 5:00PM. It is the responsibility of the offerors to frequently check FEDBIZOPPS for updates or changes. No hard copies will be available.
