Description

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Forage & Range Research Laboratory, Logan, Utah, intends to enter into a single source contract with FOSS North America, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, for the purchase of one FOSS NIR Model 6500 TR-3702-C Forage Analyzer to replace a Government-owned 6500 Forage Analyzer purchased in 1992 that is currently being used. Years of data have been gathered using this specific technology with instrumentation requiring wet chemistry analyses to establish calibrations for NIR analysis. Infrared reflectance profiles from the instrument are correlated with the results of wet chemistry analyses and a correlation equation is developed. Calibration equations developed over thirteen years need to be used on the replacement analyzer or thirteen years of wet chemistry will have to be regenerated. This analyzer provides the same reflectance as the analyzer being replaced. *Provide Qualification Statement by Close of Business January 20, 2006, if interested in this procurement.
