Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC has a requirement for an initial quantity of 13,224 M249 Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies to be procured in FY06. In addition there may be four (4) subsequent IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery Indefinate Quantity) ordering periods with a potential of either 1,000-8,000 and 8,001 - 15,000 Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies per ordering period. The Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies contain the same hydraulic buffer as the standard buttstock and is adjustable in length. Users can reduce the length of the buttstock to make the weapon more ergonomic especially when wearing body armor and in close combat situations. The item is envisoned to be mostly NC machine fabricated. It also requires molded plastic parts. The materials to be used in fabrication include 302, 631 and 303 series Stainless Steel, 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy, 1137-1144 Carbon Steels and Dupont Plastic. Various final surface protective finishes are required for these materials. The final assembly shall have a protective finish lusterles black in color. No deviations to the drawing materials, treatment or finish will be permitted. The contractor shall fabricate the item in accordance with U.S.G. drawings, inspect them in accordance with U.S.G. Quality Assurance Provisions (QAP), and package them in accordance with U.S.G. Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). The contractor most be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 1,200 collapsible buttstock assemblies per month. There will be a First Article Test Quantity and requirement to pass First Article prior to approval for full production. All offerors must sign a Noon-Disclosure agreement prior to receiving the drawings.
