- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Advanced Technology Microarray Facility (ATC), plans to procure on a sole source basis, Mouse Genome Oligonucleotide Set (MEEBO), catalog number: 0L-10-123 with Invitrogen Corporation, 1600 Fraday Avenue, Carlsbad California 92008. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12, Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.5 to use simplified procedures for commercial acquisitions. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 325413 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The NCI?s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) has as one of its missions the goal of manufacturing quality microarrays for comprehensive gene expression analysis, provide training protocols and technical support for NCI researchers and develop new microarray technologies and applications. The ATC facility is responsible for supplying arrays for the entire NCI and other collaborators. The NCI has a significant investment in array technologies and the Mouse Genome Oligonucleotide Set. Invitrogen Corporation is the only source known to the NCI that can provide the Mouse Genome Oligonucleotide Set (MEEBO) composed of ~38,800 70mer amino modified probes and controls. In addition, it is the largest mouse set known to the NCI that is available on the market today. Other known mouse sets are smaller and less annotated. It is critical that the NCI researchers continue to use the MEEBO set for printing of the arrays as changing variables at this time will be detrimental to the research already in progress. Without this oligo set the ATC microarray facility will not be able to provide the NCI investigators with the most up-to-date arrays for their expression profiling studies, CGH, (comparative genomic hybridization), and other experiments. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the researcher to determine if the party can perform this requirement. One (1) original and one (1) copy of the capability statement must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 pm EST on January 4, 2006. It is the vendor?s responsibility to call 301-402-4509 or email Malinda Holdcraft, Contract Specialist to insure questions have been received. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted. In order to receive an award, contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Online Representations and Certifications Applications (ORCA).
