Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number for this acquisition is NOI6011, and is being issued as a Notice of Intent. The incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 05-06. This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is not a small business concern. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 339111, which has a business size standard of 500. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases intends to procure scientific equipment from Carl Zeiss Microimaging to upgrade the Z1 Axio Imager Microscope with the ApoTome Slider AxioImager. To upgrade with the ApoTome Imager component will be used to reconstruct stacks (focal planes) of fluorescent stained micrographs in 3D. The Apotome examines each individual slice stacked images and filters out background noise and enhances the signal and resolution of each image. After each slice of the stacked image is processed by the ApoTome software, it combines all of the digitally enhanced images into a final image with enhanced resolution and seamless integration. This technique is especially valuable in the reconstruction of fluorescent stained SIV infected brain and lymph node tissue samples. The following factors shall be used to evaluate offers: 1) price, 2) warranty, and 3) technical capability to meet required specifications. Place of delivery NIH/NIAID, Bethesda, Maryland 20892. The government will award a fixed price purchase order to the responsible contractor. Offers must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) December 30, 2005 to Tonia Alexander.
