- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City (NSWC PC), intends to solicit OFS Fitel (formerly Lucent) on a sole source basis for 40 each 25.2 kilometer spools of optical fiber. The OFS Fitel Truewave RS 100 KPSI fiber has been tested and demonstrated to meet the optical and pressure requirements for the Navy's application. Other interested vendors may submit documentation defining the product being offered and pricing data for consideration by the government. In the event that the information and pricing information indicate that the vendor's product is potentially competitive, a sample may be requested for testing by the government. Salient characteristics of the OFS Fitel product are as follows: The OFS Fitel TrueWave RS Single-Mode fiber is a long haul Non-Zero Dispersion Fiber (NZDF). a. Attenuation: Maximum noncabled fiber attenuation coefficient (loss): @1550 nm < 0.22 dB/km; The maximum attenuation in the range of 1525 to 1575 nm is no more than 0.02 dB/km greater than the attenuation at 1550 nm. b. Macrobending Attenuation: The maximum attenuation with bending does not exceed the specified values under the following deployment conditions: Deployment Condition - 1 turn, 32 mm diameter; Wavelength - 1550 nm; Induced Attenuation - <0.50 dB Deployment Condition - 100 turns; 60 mm diameter; Wavelength - 1550 nm; Induced Attenuation - <0.05 dB c. Point Discontinuities: There are no point attenuation discontinuities greater than 0.05 dB at 1550nm d. Chromatic Dispersion: C-band: 1530 to 1565 nm - 2.6 to 6.0 ps/nm-km e. Proof Test Level: 100 kpsi f. Dynamic Tensile Strength: The mean tensile strength of unaged samples with a 0.5 meter gauge length is > 500 kpsi g. Glass Geometry: Cladding Diameter - 125.0 +/- 0.7 um h. Operating Temperature: -60C to +85C i. Water Immersion at 23C: Induced attenuation at 1550 nm due to water immersion is <0.05 dB/km Delivery will be made within 3 weeks of issuance of the order to the Naval Support Activity - Panama City, Receiving Officer, Building 100, 101 Vernon Avenue, Panama City, FL 32407-7018. NAICS Code 327212 applies. SBA Size Standard is 750 employees. FSC is 6010.
