- Description
- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to award a sole-source follow-on contract to FiberGate, Inc. for the continued lease/maintenance of sixty-three (63) FiberGate owned fiber optic cable segments currently linking various Centers and Offices of the FDA. The cable segments are primarily in the Rockville, Maryland, area, but three (3) of those cables are to locations outside of Rockville: to FDA?s White Oak campus, to the FDA building in College Park, Maryland, and to the Hubert Humphrey Building in the District of Columbia. FDA paid Fibergate a substantial sum for the installation of (these) cables under the previous contract. Replacing Fibergate with another contractor who would install its own cables would create a substantial duplication of cost to the Government that would not be recovered by competition, and would also create an unacceptable delay in contract performance. The anticipated period of performance will be 60 months (5 years) with a 12 month base year, and 4 option years.
