They are required to absorb recoil from their respective version of M242 25MM Automatic Chain Gun, allowing for safe an d effective firing. Each recoil mechanism is comprised of a fluid filled damper assembly, mechanically coupled to dual, concentric ring spring sets by a recoil spring sleeve, spacer and retaining nut. The spring holders and recoil spring sets are unique to each version of recoil mechanism, due to different interface and performance requirements between the Standard and Enhanced M242 Guns. The remaining recoil mechanism components are common between the two recoil mechanism versions. The solicitation will result in the award of a 3 Year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type contract. Proposals received in response to the solicitation, when issued, will be evaluated using Best Value procedures. The solicitation will inclu de evaluation factors and will provide instructions for proposal requirements. Proposed contract is 100% small business set-aside. FOB is Destination. For use on the M242 Gun. Estimated issue date is 12/19/05. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.502 and 5.102, therefore, hardcopies will not be p rovided. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Because of this, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above internet address in order to obtain any amendments which may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for bid opening/receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal non-responsive and result in the rejection of same. This solicitation incorporates a Technical Data Package (TDP) that cannot be provided via the internet. Vendors who need this TDP in order to prepare a bid or proposal are instructed to request same by submission of an email request to: tacom-ri-tdp@ri a.army.mil.
