Description
The FAA is seeking general construction firms to perform the following project at the Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center, Farmington, Minnesota: The work for the Administration Wing Mini-Mod Upgrade includes, but is not limited to the renovation of the basement, first floor and second floor areas and all other work as indicated in the project specifications and on the project drawings as follows: Demolition work includes: removal and legal disposal of friable and non-friable asbestos containing/contaminated materials (including pipe and duct insulation, fittings, floor tile, and other items); removal of lead based paints and PCB ballast; and construction of temporary negative-air-pressure enclosures. Demolition work also includes, but is not limited to: removal of existing walls, doors, carpeting, ceilings, mechanical HVAC handling system (including air handling units, fan coil units, piping, thermostats, diffusers, grilles, sensors, controls, etc.), electrical system (including panelboards, lighting fixtures, wiring, conduits, receptacles, switches, etc.), and the fire alarm system. Construction includes, but is not limited to, the following: construction of new partition walls (with interior sidelights and windows), doors, ceilings, venetian blinds and finishes; installation of new mechanical systems, including HVAC air handling units, fan coil units, piping, thermostats, diffusers, controls, sensors, drinking fountains and plumbing; installation of new fire protection systems, including piping, sprinkler heads, conduits, wiring and smoke detectors; installation of new lighting and power systems, including panelboards, light fixtures, wiring, switches and outlets; installation of new communications systems including telco cabinets, speakers, data/telephone jacks, wiring, cables and cable tray; installation of LAN Closet, LAN cabling from wall plates to government furnished switch rack, and voice cabling to Telco closet (including termination, testing, and labeling); and other work as required on the project drawings and specifications. Offer range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 with a performance time of approximately 240 calendar days. Construction start is anticipated for spring 2006. Upon completion of evaluation process, only those firms determined to be qualified will be sent a Request for Offer (RFO). The RFO is anticipated to be available by December 2005/January 2006. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has programs to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT short Term receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
