- This is a modification to the synopsis entitled STRATOSPHERIC OBSERVATORY FOR INFRARED ASTRONOMY (SOFIA)AIRBORNE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT, INTEGRATION AND TEST which was posted on October 21, 2005. You are notified that the following changes are made: The last sentence in the second paragraph under "Description" is hereby replaced with the following: L3 Communications was the subcontractor performing the modifications to the Aircraft Systems under contract NAS2-97001 issued to the Universities Space Research Association (USRA). The section under the header "Schedule" is hereby replaced with the following: The current schedule requires a first flight (closed door) in October 2006. To meet this first flight date, NASA has determined that all the physical modifications to the 747SP aircraft for first flight must be completed no later than March 2006. Work described in the Statement of Work must be accomplished to meet this first flight schedule. Any contractor interested in completing this work should provide information as to whether it can meet this schedule. The overall period of performance of the principle tasks required to complete development through ORR is approximately 26 months from October 2005. The due date for responses is not extended. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/ARC Business Opportunities home page is http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=D&pin=21 Offerors are responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the solicitation and any amendments.
