- Description
- The contractor shall provide all labor (machine operators), equipment (excavator and dozer), and fuel as necessary to mechanically remove non-native European beachgrass (Ammophila arenaria), which have formed monocultures over areas of Point Reyes National Seashore's dunes. Work will focus on a 2.0 acre area of beachgrass that has been growing at Abbotts Lagoon for at least three decades. Work will involve using heavy equipment (an excavator of about 20 metric tons and a dozer of about 13 metric tons) to bury European beachgrass approximately 4 feet in clean sand on site. The project is expected to be completed within three weeks. Normal work hours will be from 8:00am to 4:30pm at the work site. An 8-hour workday is expected. There is no drinking water at the site, nor are there places to buy food nearby. The closest restroom facility is at the Abbott's Lagoon trailhead/parking lot, approximately 1.5 miles from the work site. The contractor is required to pack out all garbage. The dune area can have inclement (e.g. fog, rain and gale force wind) and changeable weather (windy, rainy, and cold to sunny and hot within a day). The estimated project range is between $25,000-$100,000. Work shall commence between November 14-21, 2005 and must be completed by December 9, 2005. The Request for Quotation (RFQ) is available via electronic commerce only and can be obtained at either http://www.fedbizopps.gov or http://ideasec.nbc.gov. The due date for receipt of quotations is November 7, 2005. The contractor is responsible for periodically checking the website for any amendments that may be issued prior to the closing date of the RFQ. This acquisition is unrestricted. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which, if timely received, will be considered.
