Description
NAICS Code: 541690 This notice is not a request for quote. EPA intends to award a sole source contract to Regional Economic Models Incorporated (REMI) for the purchase of a six month lease of the REMI Policy Impact Model with 169 sectors and six regions. The period of performance for this requirement shall be from October 31, 2005 to April 30, 2006. The USEPA's Land Revitalization Office plans to use REMI's software as a basis for modeling the economic and environmental effects of brownfields redevelopment, A partial list of the reasons that the USEPA has chosen to make a sole source award to Regional Economics Models Inc. include: 1. This model is calibrated to local conditions using a relatively large amount of local data, which is likely to improve performance especially under conditions of structural economic change. This will enable us to obtain more accurate forecasts at local levels. 2. This model has a strong theoretical foundation which has been peer reviewed and demonstrated. 3. This model allows users to manipulate a large number of input variables and gives forecasts for a large number of output variables. 4. This allows users to generate forecasts for any combination of future years, allowing flexibility in analyzing the timing of economic impacts. 5. This model accounts for business cycles, reducing error. 6. This model has been used by a large number of users under diverse conditions, has a demonstrated history , and can be replicated by analysts in the public sector. All inquiries in response to this notice must be received by 2:00 eastern standard time on Thursday, October 6, 2005. For questions regarding this matter, please contact Rodney Neely at neely.rodney@epa.gov.
