- LATA/PARALLAX PORTSMOUTH, LLC, VENDOR CONFERENCE ON TREATMENT OF PROBLEM WASTES: LATA/Parallax Portsmouth, LLC, The US Dept. of Energy's Remediation Prime Contractor at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, OH., would like to invite you to a one day conference to discuss treatment options for problem wastes currently stored at Portsmouth. The conference will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2005, beginning at 9:00 AM, at the Ohio State University Endeavor Center located near the site at the intersection of State Route 32 and Shyville Road, Piketon, Ohio. An agenda is attached. The LATA/Parallax team will host an opening reception the evening of Tuesday, October 18, at the Endeavor Center, beginning at 5:00 PM. OBJECTIVE: To provide detailed informatiion to prospective vendors with the goal of obtaining qualified proposals for the treatment of these wastes on site or at a vendor facility. A summary of the available data on these wastes will be provided at the conference. KEY ISSUES: Some wastes are high in Uranium, these wastes often contain Technetium 99 at Class C or greater levels, and, the wastes comprise a variety of forms, including solids, liquids, and sludges. LATA/Parallax will distribute and discuss a draft Statement of Work (SOW) at the conference, and we expect to proceed with a Request for Proposal soon thereafter. Attendance at the conference is not required for participation in the competitive procurement, and, all information provided will be available to all prospective vendors.
