Description
SUBPART: Electrical and Electronic Equipment Components CLASSCODE: 5995 SUBJECT: Type 6 Litzendraht (Litz) High Current Radio Frequency (RF) Transmission cable SOL: N65236-05-R- 0675 DUE: 23 September 2005 POC: Dennis Walp (843) 218-5978. Contracting Officer: Patricia Godwin. DESC: The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center- Charleston (SPAWARSYSCEN- Charleston) intends to negotiate a sole source contract in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 with New England Wire Technologies, 130 North Main Street, Lisbon, NH 03585. The proposed action is to provide 3,400 feet of Type 6 Litzendraht (Litz) High Current Radio Frequency (RF) Transmission cable. Litz cable is standard for use within VLF Antenna matching components, due to its unique construction and characteristics. The configuration consists of hundreds of individual strands of magnet wire woven in a specific pattern to minimize loses and maximize the flow of RF Current. The hundreds of individual strands of wire within Litz cable are woven in a manner to minimize loses due to proximity (which are due to interaction with magnetic fields created by high current flowing in adjacent conductors) and skin effect (which is the tendency of high frequency current to flow in the outer surface of the conductor) by facilitating even distribution of current throughout the maximized surface area. New England Wire Technologies is the only known responsible source that can fulfill the mission requirement. New England Wire Technologies is a Small Business incorporated in New Hampshire. No solicitation will be made available as a result of this announcement. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the individual identified below. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Any response to this announcement is due ten (3) days from the date this notice is published. Responses received will be evaluated. However, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement is based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
