Description

Contractor shall provide all tools, labor, materials, and supervision to perform all work required for Project 679-04-107 “Paving/Streets” at the VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road E., Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404 in accordance will plans and specifications. The Contractor shall be responsible for the work in this project which includes but is not limited to clearing and grubbing, removal of concrete curbs; concrete curb and gutter; curb inlets and storm drainage structures; storm drainage pipe; concrete walkways and aluminum awning. Also, work for this project includes, but is not limited to, the grading and compaction of parking areas and roadway; installation of base and paving material and compaction for new parking areas, roadway and drive way leading to the small parking lot behind the green house; installation of concrete curb and gutters, concrete walkways and handicap ramps; installation and modification of storm drainage structures and storm drainage pipe; modifications to all existing utilities and lighting; and relocation and installation of playground equipment and landscaping. It is a requirement of this contract that the awarded contractor will be required to provide an OSHA certified “competent person” who shall have 30 hours of the OSHA Certified Construction Safety Course, all other persons working on this project shall have completed the 10 hour OSHA Certified Construction Safety Course. The estimated dollar value of construction is between $200,000.00 and $500,000.00. Estimated solicitation issue date is on or about July 6, 2005, with an estimated bid opening date of August 9, 2005. The National American Industry Classification system (NAICS) Code is 237310 and size standard of $28.5 million applies for this procurement. This procurement is subject to the availability of funds, and is SET-ASIDE FOR SERVICE DISABLED VETERAN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS (SDVOSB) procurement. There will be two (2) pre-bid conferences and walk through of the project, and it is highly recommended that all who intend to submit a bid attend one of the 2 pre-bid conferences and walk through there times and location will be addressed on page one (1) of the solicitation. All solicitation packages will be available for downloading from the website www.fedbizopps.gov/ listed in this announcement. NO HARD COPIES OF THE SOLICITATION WILL BE PROVIDED. However, drawings will be issued on a first come first serve basis. Only twenty-five (25) sets of drawings will be issued. All requests for drawings and/or questions regarding this solicitation must be submitted in writing to the Paul Weathersby (10N7/NLO), VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road E., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 or via fax number (205) 554-2894. It is highly recommended that you complete the solicitation mailing list on the website before downloading the solicitation. Any amendments issued to this solicitation will be available ONLY at the website. Bidders are reminded that they are responsible for obtaining all amendments from the website.
