- The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the manufacture and delivery of 7.62mm, M973 (ball)/M974 (tracer) Short Range Training Ammunition (SRTA) Cartridges. Both of these cartridges provide a realistic restricted range training alternative to M80/M62 service ammunition. The 7.62mm SRTA-B/SRTA-T training ammunition is intended for use in the M60 and M240B. The ammunition contains lead-free projectiles, which allows for a clean training environment. The cartridge shall conform to the requirements of MIL-PRF-71167B(AR) M973 Ball SRTA and MIL-PRF- 71168B(AR) M974 Tracer SRTA-Draft Performance Specifications dated on July 25, 2005. The approximate quantities for FY06-FY11 will be 3M - 5M for each FY. The first incremental delivery will be required to be made within 120 days from the date of award of contract. All responsible interested sources are ncouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data. The respondent's capabilities information must demonstrate a capability for high rate production and delivery of these cartridges. The qualification data should include information stating if a qualified design is already approved by the government and if any revisions, modifications or changes to the previously qualified design have been made since verification testing, the respondent must provide documentation listing all proposed changes and rationale for change. Sources also must list source(s) of the data, and if the data was generated by independent test agencies. The respondent should include information regarding the current status of mold used to make 7.62mm SRTA Ball/SRTA-T projectiles. Specifically, if it is a production mold or a prototyped mold. Any source proposing a non-qualified design must include the status of their design. In order to obtain copies of the MIL-PRF-71167B(AR) M973 ball SRTA and MIL-PRF-71168B(AR) M974 Tracer SRTA-Draft Performance Specifications dated on July 25, 2005, interested parties must submit their request to the undersigned.
